    20 minutes by video. You describe what is happening; I tell you honestly whether and how I can help.

    I visit you at home or we meet online, and I get to know your child through play.

    Concrete, written next steps that work with your routines, languages and childcare, not against them.

  4. Support while you try it

    Short check-ins as things change, so you are never left on your own with the plan.

Settling-in Package

Families about to move to Munich or in their first months here

Private families. Billed to an employer or relocation firm: €950.

A guided first chapter in Munich for your children: what to expect from Kita or school, how to prepare them, and a plan for the weeks when everything is new.

  • One session before the move (online) and one after arrival (at home)

I observe a normal afternoon in your home, then we work on it together over four sessions and you keep a written plan you can come back to.

About me

Hi, I'm Abigail Hattendorf

I have spent 10 years with young children in Munich, as a Kita educator in bilingual settings and as a nanny for international families.

I hold a BA in Childhood Studies and an MSc in Child and Youth Care, and I work through play, because that is how young children make sense of change. I also moved here myself, so I know how it feels to decode Kita letters and rebuild a support network from scratch.

Common questions

Is this therapy?

No. I work with healthy families on everyday questions: settling in, routines, behaviour, transitions and bilingual development. I do not diagnose or treat medical or psychological conditions. If something needs a clinician, I will say so and help you find one.

Which ages do you work with?

Families with children from birth to 16 years.

Do I need to speak German?

No. Everything happens in English. I also speak German, so I can help you make sense of letters from the Kita or school and prepare for conversations with staff.

Where do sessions take place?

At your home anywhere in Munich, or online by video call. Home visits outside the city are possible; travel costs €0.50 per km outside the city limits, there and back.
